The mission of the City Manager's Office is to support the City Council in the development and evaluation of policy by assembling and analyzing data and making recommendations; to provide leadership and direction to employees in implementation of policies, programs and daily operations; and, to ensure that the City of Fort Walton Beach government provides the municipal services and infrastructure necessary for a high quality of life for our citizens, in a fiscally responsible manner.

City Clerk

The City Clerk is a Charter Officer appointed by, and reporting to, the City Council. As a Charter Officer, the City Clerk is part of the Administrative Branch of the City Council.

The City Clerk's Office is committed to serving the public by striving for excellence in the preparation of minutes of meetings, providing complete and accurate information, preserving the records of the City, and maintaining a professional level of service in all phases of operation.

The City Clerk is also the official custodian of public records, official custodian of the Seal of the City, and attests to all official documents of the City.

FWB Police Department


The Police Department is responsible for protecting and promoting community safety, ensuring the safe and orderly movement of traffic, and for seeking solutions to any problems that threaten the quality of life in the City of Fort Walton Beach. Through its community policing initiative, the Department uses innovative approaches to problem solving and crime prevention.

Fire Services

The Fort Walton Beach Fire Department is an organization of dedicated professionals who are committed to serving the community. We are charged with providing comprehensive fire protection, emergency medical advanced life support, hazardous materials mitigation, and technical rescue services. We serve as the City's emergency preparedness coordinating agency. We also enforce state fire codes, conduct fire inspections, and provide public fire and injury prevention education programs.

The Fort Walton Beach Fire Department remains vigilant every hour of every day. Our commitment to the community is demonstrated daily by our response to emergencies and dedication to preparedness through training.

Engineering & Utility Services

The Engineering & Utility Services Department is responsible for Streets, Stormwater, Sanitation, Water Operations & Distribution, Sanitary Sewer Collections, Planning & Zoning, CRA, Code Enforcement, Building Permits & Inspections, and GIS. The Department also provides internal services, including Fleet Maintenance and Facilities Management.

The Recreation and Cultural Services Department is committed to permanently preserving, protecting, maintaining, improving, and enhancing the City's parkland and recreation opportunities!

Financial Services

The Finance Department is dedicated to providing professional financial support regarding all aspects of financial administration.

The integrity of the City's financial records is important in upholding the public's trust and reliance on the financial reports produced by the Finance Department. Transparency in these financial records is very important to us, hence we provide access to our Check Register each month.

Customer Service

The City of Fort Walton Beach Customer Service Division is responsible for reading water meters, billing customers, receiving payments, opening and closing utility accounts, and resolving customer inquiries for the City's 9,000 utility customers. Services include water, sewer, sanitation, county tipping fees, and stormwater utility fees.

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department strives to provide effective personnel services through the development, implementation, and equitable administration of policies and procedures; recruit qualified personnel; maintain a well-trained work force; and foster productivity, innovation, and a climate of success in the workplace.

The Department recruits new employees and works to retain existing employees, maintains personnel records, coordinates employee benefits and enforces personnel policies.
